🔁 Methods to Reset a MikroTik Router
MikroTik routers can be reset in two common ways. Here’s a simple guide to walk you through the process.
Method 1: Using the Reset Button (Hardware Reset)
1. Power off your MikroTik router.
Unplug the power cable.

2. Press and hold the Reset button.
Use a pin or paperclip to press and hold the Reset button.
3. While holding the Reset button, power on the router.
Plug the power back in while continuing to hold the button around 25 second until the sound “Tit” show up with light blinks, then take out your pin

4. Watch the LED indicators.
Keep holding the button about 10-20 seconds until the ACT light blinks, then release. Note: (Some Mikrotik devices can take up to 25-30 seconds to reset.) When you hear the sound, you can release.
✅ This will reset your router to its factory default settings. If you have followed the guide already, but it is still not reset to the default, just turn off the power. Then turn it back on. It will be working well, reset you can log in to it.
5. Connect Mikrotik to the computer and log in.

Here, I log in to Mikrotik router via Winbox. Note: if your Mikrotik router reset is not successful when you open Winbox to log in, it is not set to the default IP address. This means it was not reset successfully. It is also not set to MAX.

Then you can log in to Mikrotik as normally.

Method 2: Using Winbox (Software Reset)
1. Log into your MikroTik router via Winbox.

2. Go to the System menu.
Click on System > Reset Configuration.

3. Choose your reset options.
You can check “No Default Configuration” if you want to clear even the default setup.

4. Click Reset Configuration.
Your router will reboot and load factory default settings.

⚠️ Important Notes
- A reset will erase all current settings, including IP addresses, passwords, firewall rules, etc.
- Make sure to back up your configuration if needed before resetting.
