Step 1: Backup Your Configuration to prepare for upgrades

- Open Winbox, WebFig, or use SSH.
- Navigate to Files.
- Click Backup, give it a name, and click Backup.
- Also, download the backup file to your computer.

Step 2: Check the Current Version
To see what version you’re running:
- Go to System > Packages.
- Note the version displayed at the top.

Step 3: Check for the Latest Version
- Go to System > Packages.
- Click Check for Updates.
- MikroTik will show the latest available RouterOS version for you to upgrade MikroTik RouterOS and firmware.

At Channel select stable => Check For Updates
Step 4: Upgrade RouterOS
- In the same Check for Updates window, click Download & Install.
- The router will download the latest package and automatically reboot to apply the update.

If your Mikrotik RouterOS is old, it will be updated to the latest version. When done, download it, and it will reboot.
Step 5: Upgrade the Firmware
RouterOS and firmware are separate; RouterOS updates don’t automatically update the firmware.
- After the RouterOS reboots, go to System > RouterBOARD.
- Click Upgrade if the firmware is outdated.
- Then, reboot the router for the firmware upgrade to take effect.

Click on Yes, it will reboot the router to upgrade the firmware

When it finishes, it will ask to reboot again. If it does not automatically reboot go as below

Step 6: Verify the Upgrade
- After rebooting, return to System > Packages and System > RouterBOARD.
- Ensure both RouterOS and firmware versions are up to date.
