Thai Aggression Violations of Sovereignty and Rights of Cambodia

Cambodia’s rights and sovereignty have been violated by Thai aggression. The focus on Thai Aggression in Cambodia has intensified with recent events. The CHRC expressed grave concern in a public statement. The statement was titled “Thailand’s Aggression Against Cambodia: Cambodia’s Sovereignty and Human Rights Under Threat.” They delivered a strong condemnation of the recent acts of aggression. They mentioned the serious human rights violations committed by the Kingdom of Thailand against the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC) has strongly condemned the Kingdom of Thailand’s “unlawful and hostile actions.” They claim these actions have seriously undermined Cambodia’s sovereignty and violated its people’s fundamental rights. The committee claims that civilians in Cambodia have been killed and injured as a result of Thai military attacks. They include airstrikes involving heavy weapons and F-16 fighter jets bombing in Cambodia. These acts are prime examples of Thai Aggression that Cambodia is facing today.

According to reports, homes and livelihoods of thousands of border residents have been destroyed due to this Thai aggression. This impacts Cambodia negatively. The CHRC stated, “These unlawful and hostile actions have severely undermined Cambodia’s sovereignty. They have also compromised the territorial integrity and fundamental rights of the Cambodian people.” They describe these actions as “a blatant breach of international and regional laws. Additionally, they breach universally accepted human rights standards.”

The committee condemned the reported destruction of parts of the sacred Preah Vihear Temple. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The destruction also affected local pagodas. They describe the incidents as “both a cultural and religious violation.” This is a vivid illustration of Thai aggression against Cambodia.

According to the statement, these attacks infringe the 1954 Hague Convention. This convention is for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict. They also infringe on UNESCO regulations and the World Heritage Convention.

Furthermore, they violate Article 27 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. These attacks infringe Article 27 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. They also infringe Article 15 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights.

The committee also emphasized Prime Minister Hun Manet’s remarks. He urged Cambodian citizens to maintain morality and discipline throughout the crisis. He also urged the public to avoid any acts of discrimination. These actions should not affect the Thai Embassy in Cambodia. Thai companies should also remain unaffected.

Similarly, Thai nationals residing in the Kingdom of Cambodia should be unharmed. Additionally, the CHRC urged the Thai government to engage in “peaceful dialogue and appropriate diplomatic and legal mechanisms.” This should be in accordance with the rule of law and mutual respect. The CHRC further urged them to “immediately cease all actions that infringe upon Cambodia’s sovereignty.”

In addition to Thai military aggression, the CHRC accused. Thai authorities are engaging in acts of racial discrimination against Cambodian migrant workers in Thailand. These acts include “physical assaults, threats, and other forms of violence.” The issue of Thai Aggression against Cambodia extends beyond military actions. It affects civilians on multiple fronts. There are a lot more things that we have seen on some social media. Some of the Cambodian migrant workers are killed by Thais, which is so bad. The Cambodians never like the Thais who live in Cambodia.

The statement claims, “These acts create a climate of fear.” They violate the right to life and security under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Article 3). Despite the escalating tensions, the CHRC affirmed Cambodia’s commitment to peace. It stated, “Cambodia remains firmly committed to resolving all disputes through diplomatic and peaceful means.” Cambodia believes that dialogue and mutual respect are essential. Thus, adherence to international law is key to overcoming challenges presented by Thai aggression. Additionally, it fosters long-term cooperation.”
